Overview
Install and configure the standalone Pala Springs Panorama cable-car service on the Paleto Forest–Mount Chiliad tramway. Players walk through the open doors and can move freely inside the two synchronized gondolas.
Requirements
- Required
- A working FiveM GTA V server and normal base-game assets
- Framework
- None; no OneSync, ox_lib, ox_target, database, or external audio dependency
- Optional maps
- DNX Chiliad Town and ONX Vegetation; start custom maps first
- Resource name
- Keep chiliad-cable-car and deploy the complete stream and ui folders
Installation
Download the public source ZIP and rename the extracted folder to chiliad-cable-car.
Place the complete folder in your server resources, including stream and ui, and disable other gondola scripts on this route.
Start any custom maps first, then add ensure chiliad-cable-car to server.cfg.
Review config.lua, check both stations and emergency exit locations, and test a complete ride in each direction before opening the service to players.
Configuration
Choose service and model settings
Edit config.lua and restart the resource after changes. These replicated convars are optional overrides placed before ensure in server.cfg. The panorama profile uses the custom cabins; vanilla selects the original-game gondolas. Disabling service recovers local riders before cleanup.

ensure chiliad-cable-carAdjust journey times, sound, and blips
timings.travelMs defaults to 95000 and timings.dwellMs to 20000. timings.accelerationFraction controls acceleration and deceleration. sounds.enabled toggles audio; sounds.approach.station.volume defaults to 0.42. The running-audio startDelayMs and stopLeadMs defaults are 3000 and 2500. blips.enabled controls station map markers. camera.preventAutoCenter sets the camera default when no convar override is supplied.
-- Existing timing values inside ChiliadCableCarConfig:
timings = {
dwellMs = 20000,
travelMs = 95000,
doorTransitionMs = 1500,
accelerationFraction = 0.18,
minimumBoardDoorFraction = 0.999,
minimumExitDoorFraction = 0.80
},Keep the route and cabin calibration together
Path nodes, cabin offsets, doorway volumes, and emergency exit pads are calibrated together. Avoid changing them for cosmetic adjustments. For a custom map, validate the stations, collision, and safe exit positions before carrying players.
Customize the external livery
Back up stream/cc_panorama_graphics.ytd before editing it. Its three 2048-square textures are cc_summit_side, cc_pala_numbers_01, and cc_pala_numbers_02. Keep dictionary and texture names, canvas size, transparency, placement, and complete mip chains. The supplied format is A8R8G8B8. Export and replace textures with a texture-dictionary editor; no model export is needed. Test both cars, sides, ends, doors, day/night, and near/far views. See docs/TEXTURE_CUSTOMIZATION.md in the repository for the full workflow.
How to use and test it
Board and leave on foot
Wait until the platform-side doors open fully, walk inside, and move freely during the trip. There is no interaction key, seat menu, or fixed riding position. Walk out through the open doors at the other station. The opposite door pair stays closed, and the glass floor has solid walking collision.
Choose a local camera preference
The rider-only camera stabilization keeps native free look. It skips aiming, pause, cinematic, and non-follow cameras without forcing look angles. Use these client/F8 commands without a slash; default restores the config/convar choice.
chiliadcablecar_camera on
chiliadcablecar_camera off
chiliadcablecar_camera default
chiliadcablecar_camera statusUpdate with the cabins empty
Back up config.lua and any custom livery YTD. Let passengers disembark, stop the resource, replace the complete folder, merge settings, and start it again. Keep the folder named chiliad-cable-car and do not run multiple copies.
Troubleshooting
Original-game cars appear instead of custom cabins
Check that the model profile is panorama and all seven files in stream are deployed. Required-model load failures log a fallback to the original-game cars. Restart after changing the model profile and check F8/server errors and chiliadcablecar_status.
The station bell is missing
Check that ui/station-audio.html, ui/station-audio.js, and their manifest entries are present, then restart. Run chiliadcablecar_audio for audio-bank, movement-loop, and station-bell readiness/error diagnostics. No external audio resource is required.
The camera conflicts with another script
Try chiliadcablecar_camera off, then check chiliadcablecar_camera status. The local override changes rider stabilization; it does not replace native free look or force camera angles.
Duplicate cars or clipping appear
Disable other scripts operating cable cars on this route and review the active map setup. This resource does not relocate stations or repair map collision. Verify platform clearance and the configured emergency exit pads.
A rider needs emergency recovery
Use chiliadcablecar_exit in the client/F8 console only for an emergency return to the nearer terminal. Before reporting the issue, collect the resource version, game build, map resources, model profile, relevant F8/server errors, chiliadcablecar_status output, and reproduction steps. Remove private server information from logs.

Client diagnostics
These commands run in the client/F8 console without a slash. status reports timetable, model, rider, and floor information; debug toggles floor-center markers; audio reports audio-bank, movement-loop, and station-bell information. The exit command is reserved for emergency recovery.
